This morning we talked with our english conversation teacher about the performance of Lady Windermere's Fan we saw together some days ago in the theater.. it was really funny and we all enjoyed it! It was obviously easier and they especially wanted us to laugh.. anyway we were happily speaking when she said that there's an english teacher who comes from another school and teaches in a third class(with guys who are about 17), who said to her that her students didn't like Oscar Wilde because he was gay and often wrote about themes like these and she put a lot of effort into convincing them he was a great writer and they would have enjoyed the play(and that's already dreadful). After the play she was really angry because a men played the part of many women, dressing as a women and she was scared because she had to talk about this with his students.. she repeated many times "she shouldn't have done it! she shouldn't have done it!!". I.. I didn't know what to answer to my teacher, I was really shocked.. a friend of mine underlined that that choice had nothing to do with homosexuality, they simply chose to use the same actor(they were 5..)to play some women too to make us laugh and to criticize the character, but our teacher replied "you're right, but if you have to speak with people who tell you 'yeah, Oscar Wilde was great, but he was homosexual!!'....". I really couldn't believe what she was saying.. god, that's pure ignorance!! And I thought(and think anyway)that italian young people were going to have an opener(o_O)mind, because in my class there are no people who thinks senseless thing like it and it seems we're changing luckily, also because it is finally becoming something normal.. BUT there are still so many young guys who despise people who have different.. tastes? I was really really upset.. 17 years-old people who said senseless things and couldn't like a genius as Wilde just because he was gay.. I can't believe this, I can't!! >_<
Wake up and realize the more you accept and stay with people who have different preferences or different cultures the more you understand the world, you become more intelligent and grow up; if you keep thinking everyone who's different from you is wrong.. well, you're just wasting your useless life and it's better if you stay away from me..
